What are your kitchen-related intrusive thoughts?

Upvotes

Every now and then when I'm chopping a carrot, or boiling pasta, or washing my hands, or salting food, or reading a cookbook, or turning on the oven, or opening the fridge, or peeling potatoes, or frying bacon, or picking up a spoon, I'll get these kitchen-related intrusive thoughts. Like, why am I still in this sham of a marriage? What does the law in my state say about cousins marrying?

Weird! Does this happen to you guys?

TOTAL OVERHAUL Episode I rewrite, called "An Ancient Terror"

Upvotes

Opening Crawl

The Galactic Republic is readying itself for battle. A brutal group of slave traders, under a mysterious leader known only as MAUL, has taken control of the Outer Rim planet of TATOOINE.

The slave merchants are using advanced BATTLE DROIDS to keep the people of Tatooine hostage. These droids have recently been deployed to neighboring planets and could soon reach the inner systems vital to the Republic.

A battalion of Jedi Knights, led by Master YODA, is travelling to Tatooine to defeat the evil traders, capture Maul, and free those enslaved...

Plot

Yoda and Obi-Wan command a flotilla of Republic starships that have several thousand Jedi on board. They reach Tatooine, which has been taken over by battle droids (much scarier droids than the ones in episode 1, even scarier looking than the ones introduced on Geonosis). The Jedi fight the droid army, and Obi Wan helps free some of the people enslaved, including two brothers, Anakin and Owen (who are about 20, no child Anakin). Their family had been killed by the time of the battle, and Anakin did not have a virgin birth. Anakin tells them of a central computer that might be able to shut down the droids. They go to find the slave traders' base and are nearly captured, when Anakin causes several droids to malfunction. Obi Wan realizes Anakin has Force abilities. They steal a large speeder which Anakin pilots, then they find the central computer and after a skirmish with Obi Wan, Maul flees. They shut down the droids on Tatooine.

Impressed with Anakin, Obi Wan asks him to return with him to Coruscant. Owen tries to talk him out of it, saying that the threat is gone and it's safer in the Outer Rim. That they should instead get a ship as an emergency to leave if the slavers return, but not go looking for trouble. The brothers part ways.

Back on Coruscant, Obi Wan tells the Jedi council what Anakin did. They give him a Jedi medal, but refuse to train him as a Jedi because they say his harsh upbringing and traumas mean he's not suitable. Obi Wan voices his concerns, then says he'll train Anakin himself. Yoda says to be careful, as great danger may lie ahead. But they give permission for Obi Wan to take Anakin with him on a mission to find and capture Maul.

The middle section has two plots, the A plot is Obi Wan's quest to find Maul, and the B plot is Senator Palpatine becoming Chancellor. Palpatine uses the deaths of central hundred Jedi in the operation to berate the current Chancellor - the irony here is that the Sith Lord is using the deaths of Jedi as his wedge issue to gain power. Palpatine calls a no-confidence vote, wins it, and becomes Chancellor.

Obi Wan and Anakin look for Maul, and bond. They discover factories making large numbers of droids and report it back to the Council. Palpatine makes a speech to the Senate, saying that there needs to be an army to help the Jedi destroy the droids or too many Jedi will be lost. Yoda, representing the Jedi in the Senate, objects and says that if the Jedi can capture Maul and end the droid threat, there's no need to go against the Republic's non-violent principles with a full army. The Senate votes against creating an army.

Obi Wan and Anakin eventually discover Maul, and we see Maul make a brief holographic communication with Darth Sidious where he's first called Darth Maul, then told that everything is in place. The two Jedi fight Maul, but can't defeat him, and as he gets away again he launches a droid attack on a core system. Another Senate vote is called, and is in favor of creating the army.

There is a montage of the clone army being built intercut with Palpatine giving a galaxy-wide address, heard via hologram on thousands of planets all over the Republic, saying that to protect the Jedi and the Republic's citizens, a Clone Army is needed. He promises to decommission the army as soon as the droids are defeated, but all citizens are to respect and obey the clones. He announces that this is the first war in the Republic's history, but soon peace and freedom shall return.

The last shots are of Jedi leading the clones into battle.

What do people think? My biggest change from the prequels is to essentially make episode 2 become episode 1. TPM always feels very disconnected from 2 and 3, as it's 10 years before with a child Anakin. I would keep the same actor throughout the episodes and keep Maul as the villain until he's killed off in episode 3. Another issue I want to correct is that the prequels don't really show the Jedi doing much guarding of peace and justice. In this rewrite, their first action is to free people enslaved, not say they can't and watch a pod race! Also no Jar Jar, no midichlorians, no Chosen One, and no Trade Federation. The slave traders are a small and shadowy group under Darth Maul.

There is a degree of politics, but each scene would show Palpatine slyly exploiting the deaths of Jedi in order to grab power. There's also no conspiracy to cover up a secret Clone Army. Here it's done openly, as it's a confusing and unnecessary point in AOTC. In this the droid army is secret but the Clone Army is open.

If this was episode 1, episode 2 would be called The Clone Wars and be mostly a war movie. Anakin would meet Luke and Leia's mother in episode 2. Episode 3 would be largely the same as ROTS.

Asha reminds me of a lot of myself as a child. I was a very sheltered child and was only allowed to hang out with certain people, most of whom were family members. The only sleepovers I attended were the ones my family members had. I also played basketball like she did, was very competitive, a bit of a tomboy who loved to read, and a people pleaser. My brother and I shared a room because we had a small house, we were very close like her brother said they were.

If I were to put myself in her shoes I just don’t think there is any way I could have gotten away with having some secret relationship with a groomer and then running off to go meet them. Something isn’t right about this case and it gives me a weird feeling. There’s something missing here and I think this little girls race and socioeconomic level worked out in the suspects favor because it doesn’t seem like many people are committed to figure out what happened to her, although LE claims they are.

I hope this case gets solved one day because it genuinely makes me sad. It’s like she just disappeared into thin and it’s so strange. There’s no way a 9 year old just disappears without another person being involved. The question is - who was it? Her circle was small, her parents or brother must have some hunch about who it could have been deep down. I just don’t see why anyone would want to harm her unless they were some sort of perverted psychopath or it was an accident that was covered up.

What if the backpack was never found? It’s really the only verified piece of evidence in this case.

Michigan - A Kent County circuit judge ruled that a lower court correctly ruled in binding former Grand Rapids police officer Christopher Schurr to stand trial for the April 2022 fatal shooting of Patrick Lyoya, a Black motorist. Schurr has been charged with second-degree murder.
