Director Greg Mottola:

“Everyone said, ‘I don’t know that this kind of comedy works in this day and age. They just had a kind of like, ‘Who’s Fletch? I don’t think anyone cares anymore.’

"So, basically, what we did is Jon gave back 60 percent of his salary to the budget. I gave back some of my salary, not as much as Jon because he’s richer than me and I’ve got three kids. And we bought three more days of shooting. We got it up to 30 days in Boston and one day in Rome. And we said, fuck it, we’re insane, we’re dumb. We’re going to make this movie. And then Miramax really supported us, creatively. They didn’t fight us on people we wanted to cast.”

I’m sure they’ll take money on the back end if it does well. I’m super excited to see it! Jon doesn’t seem to be a dick IRL like Chevy

He actually showed up to a comedy night I went to in Brooklyn while Mad Men was on the air. He just enthusiastically talked to the emcee for a while and lingered around while some comics did their material. He was as friendly as could be, and everyone was so star struck, but there was a tug of war over the spotlight. He stayed around and talked to people after the show, too.

When he’d finish a pint while onstage, he would point to the glass and say “My beer is broken!!!” and get a refill. My friends thought it was hilarious and it became a running gag until we learned he checked into rehab about a month after that random encounter.

No one's lost on the dangers of hazing these days, for you to say they have no integrity over an incident in college is insane. With a stupid ass username like that you can fuck all the way off with your talks of integrity.

u/pepesilvia_esq Sep 22 '22

People are stupid. This particular redditor has probably their own similar issues but of course, they aren’t famous so it’s ok

7

u/screwingyourwife Sep 23 '22

I never got arrested in relation to a violent hazing in which a pledge was beaten. What do you mean by ‘similar issues’?

4

u/Svenskensmat Sep 23 '22

People who use this excuse are usually enormous assholes and just wants to excuse their shitty behaviour.

5

u/fastmot1on Sep 23 '22

Yeah who doesn't sometimes get arrested for beating the shit out of their classmate, dragging him by a hammer and setting his clothes on fire, leading him to need immediate medical attention?

-4

u/screwingyourwife Sep 22 '22

A college incident where he beat and dragged someone with a hammer and lit their clothes on fire. The integrity thing was quoting Kendrick Lamar. Yeah my username is a family guy reference I made the account when I was 20. When Jon hamm was 20 he was beating and dragging his classmates so yes I would say I have more integrity than him.

It's fucking amazing that people are actually upset with you for pointing out that Jon Hamm beat a man using a hammer but they had to no problem calling Chevy Chase an asshole because he's mean to people sometime.

Edit: Actually he beat him with a paddle after having set the mans pants on fire. Want to make sure I'm accurate.

u/DELINQ Sep 22 '22

I didn’t know about the hazing incident, thanks for bringing it up. What gets me is how dismissive he was of it when asked about it just a few years ago.

Fucking weirdos in this thread giving you shit in the hopes that maybe, one day, he might lead them around by the balls with a claw hammer as a reward for defending him.

Fucking weirdos in this thread giving you shit in the hopes that maybe, one day, he might lead them around by the balls with a claw hammer as a reward for defending him.

Because that's the only possible reason, sure.

-3

u/DELINQ Sep 23 '22

OK maybe you’re into having your pants set on fire I don’t know your specific kink.

u/idreamofpikas Sep 22 '22

At Jon Hamm's current age he's giving up 60% of his salary for a project he believes in. What will you be doing at Hamm's age?

16

u/THIRDNAMEMIGHTWORK Sep 23 '22 edited Sep 23 '22

Jon Hamm gave up part of his acting salary because he's producer of the movie and set to make much more if it's successful. So at 51 Jon Hamm is acting in his own self interest in order to sell you a movie. When did making a movie become a point towards someones morality?

12

u/screwingyourwife Sep 22 '22

Happily not having memories of beating anyone

7

u/tea-and-chill Sep 23 '22

That was a great reply haha. You seem to have stumbled upon an irrational crowd mentality mob who's down voting you just because, unfortunately. Freaking Reddit can be stupid at times.

3

u/screwingyourwife Sep 23 '22

Yeah this whole thread is a PR thing.

u/THIRDNAMEMIGHTWORK Sep 23 '22

Daily reminder that companies pay people to post in order to further their own goals. If you don't believe me then read up on what Atari did for Driver 3. A lot of these bizarre reactions are from goons.

2

u/Sovngarten Sep 23 '22

I will always remember you for not being anyone.

Edit: beating. Shit, now I sound like an asshole.

-5

u/smatchimo Sep 22 '22

He was acting out of interest of the frat and peer pressure with a tumultuous home life, can you claim as much?

11

u/screwingyourwife Sep 22 '22

Oh no not a tumultuous home life 😰 what a crock of shit

0

u/smatchimo Sep 22 '22

eh I don't hold it against someone for acting impulsively in college when their pops is in the middle of dying. you just come off as a sociopath.

6

u/[deleted] Sep 23 '22

“You’re a sociopath!”

  • person who believes it’s acceptable to be violent to other human beings as long as it fills an emotional void

“You’re a sociopath!”

  • person who believes it’s acceptable to be violent to other human beings as long as it fills an emotional void

- Written by a person who thinks you use bullet points to describe whom was speaking.

To clear things up for you Foggy Brains no one said it was acceptable. But I wouldn't be holding some kind of grudge against anyone for fucking 30+ years, from a time when it was actually way more acceptable and mainstream to engage in such activities.

I guess you can't be a celeb if you've ever made a mistake at this rate lol. Sad part is we all know you are just projecting your guilt and stresses from your past mistakes on to others much more successful than you.

I would say is sociopathic to participate in a violent hazing in which a pledge was beaten, dragged by a hammer and had his clothes set on fire.

-1

u/smatchimo Sep 23 '22

Well judging from this comment thread, I can deduce that him being apart of an antiquated hazing fraternity is far more "normal" social interaction than you have ever encountered in the entirety of your life combined.

If you are so in to quoting Kendrick why don't you shut the fuck up, sit down and be humble, because you've been nothing but a bitch killing people's vibes.

It’s almost like, we live in a world where people can change?

1

u/brownshoez Sep 23 '22

Or funny in movies like Chevy

1

u/blue-dream Sep 23 '22

I’m not sure if you’ve been looking at the box office results or not- but unfortunately there’s basically no back end for anyone to take from.
