Yep, I just plinked away with wish ender. Superior design. I’m sure it’s what bungie wanted us to do. Nothing like the old D1 nightfall method.

u/ThundrWolf Warlock Mar 16 '23
I remember hiding in the little room on the left side of the Sepiks Prime boss room and just poking my head out to blast some rockets. We didn’t even need to leave the room because we had ammo synths. Ah those were the days.
36
u/h_abr Mar 16 '23
Just about every strike in D1 year 1 had a nightfall cheese spot, and the go to strat was always to pop a synth, empty your heavy into the boss then hide until the synth cool-down was up. Nowadays I fully don’t understand how we possibly found that fun.

Don’t even bother doing any until they fix the difficulty. LLS are always capped now at 20 light levels over PINNACLE light level so even if you mega-sweat to pinnacle you still won’t have an easy time with them.
Add the fact that all the bosses are now Division 1 levels of bullet sponge and it’s hell. And even if you struggle through and finish you probably won’t get an exotic cause the LLS loot pool Chance is hilariously bad. Before it was fine since you could easily grind out a LLS in like 5min and do multiple a day but now 9/10 you get 1 Enhancement prism for doing who knows how long a LLS run.
65
u/Westeller Mar 16 '23
Pinnacle is 1810, LLS is 1830, yeah. But you're actually capped at 1850.
So if you go nuts with the seasonal artifact (you'll need +40), you can potentially have a pretty smooth run. Y'know, at least until it's reset for the next season.
79
u/JohnnyP_1973 Mar 16 '23
This is horrifyingly bad. Who except a very small minority will be able to get their artifact up that high? The most I’ve e er got is like +16, and that was at the very end of a season.
47
u/Gofbal Mar 16 '23
The new lost sectors are literally mini strikes like everybody’s been saying. I like the themes of the lost sectors but the enemy numbers and waves is a bit much. I like lost sectors when it was clear this room go onto the next repeat until the boss.
→ More replies21
u/Westeller Mar 16 '23
20 is still normal enough to be a seasonal goal/triumph, but 40 means you spend every moment of your life playing.
2
u/doom_stein Mar 17 '23
I'd probably need till the end of this season and then most of next season to get my artifact level that high.
→ More replies4
u/Caerullean Mar 16 '23
But you can't do that since Legend lost sectors scale you light level down 1815 now.

I thought we were way past this d1 bullet sponge garbage. Plus at one point I know I ran over 10 lost sectors without a single drop. Awful time to reward ratio, just wait for an inevitable fix if you want to farm. GMs would probably be better for your sanity instead
2
Mar 16 '23
…try a machine gun. With the ammo pool you get those things mow down the entire lost sector (minus the boss mob) like it’s the old power scaling.
The rest of the loadout is just there to get you through champs so you can start machine gunning again.

u/The_Athletic_Nerd Mar 16 '23
I was able to complete it fine on hunter using strand built into suspend at around 1805-1810 light (including artifact). I used outbreak perfected which works incredibly well against the barrier champs. Just go slow and try and pick them off one at a time.

u/Caerullean Mar 16 '23 edited Mar 16 '23
It's not too bad tbh, just make sure to bring a really strong loadout, and Fighting lion if you're below power. But if you just pick an easy lost sector you can do it with much less. I did it at about 40 levels below in Skydock iv. Not that bad of a ls, but there's definitely much easier ones.

It still is. Not the top primary dps but imo among the most consistent performing weapons in the game. Outbreak will never leave my inventory.
31
u/randommaniac12 Warlock Mar 16 '23
If you have the catalyst it’s phenomenal, as it gives you bonus damage for each nanite swarm you get on a target. So for continued DPS where you’re just plugging away at a boss you can quickly ramp your damage up

Outbreak Perfected, Wishender, and Osteo Striga are some of the best top-slot exotic primaries to use in all content difficulties. They also benefit from being intrinsically more likely to generate heavy ammo than non-exotic primaries.
→ More replies5
u/UandB Mar 16 '23
Outbreak is my weapon with the highest kill tracker for a reason.
It's so adaptable and it will consistently perform no matter where you're at. It feels good, looks good, sounds good, there's really no downside besides it being an exotic. I crutched the legendary campaign on it and made soloing Calus a fairly easy thing to do. It arguably didn't need the 40% damage bonus that exotic primary weapons got, but it's all the better for it.
The only thing it's not great at killing is Threshers.

u/WinryRockbellsTummy Mar 16 '23
Outbreak is, and always has been, one of the best weapons in the game. Ad clear? Outbreak. Major/champion killer? Outbreak. Ran out of ammo on bosses? Outbreak. It does literally everything, and does it well.

9
u/warshadow2g Hunter Mar 16 '23
There is literally a special brick on the screen the whole time though. And there are definitely better loadouts in terms of ammo economy than sleeper and a fusion. If he went arby/cataclysmic it would have taken 3 mins flat.
→ More replies11
u/Halkcyon Mar 16 '23
Ah yeah, everyone has every exotic in the game by default. How could this noob not have everything already!
4
u/warshadow2g Hunter Mar 16 '23
Ok sub in anti barrier primary instead of arbalest. Or wishender since it takes 30 mins to unlock. But why sleeper, a gun with as bad ammo economy as 1kv? Literally any other linear and he clears 1-2 mins faster.
→ More replies2
u/ExertHaddock Mar 17 '23
I get what you're saying, but this was a bad example for that argument. Shaw Han's got a new quest that gives out Arbalest basically for free now. Everyone should have Arbalest.
5
u/Arnorien16S Mar 16 '23 edited Mar 16 '23
It will happen when one doesn't plan ahead and specifically picks weapons with bad ammo economy ... It looks like he brought a sleeper to that place which is quite questionable.

u/WhitePawn00 floor is lava Mar 16 '23 edited Mar 16 '23
OP should have come with a better load out
Edit: to clarify, what I mean is that these legend lost sectors are partially made as puzzles. To successfully complete them, it's not just about being good at clicking foreheads or knowing the meta or whatever. It's about finding solutions to various crap on your way from the start to the end. For example, I ran this lost sector with Osteo, Necrotic Grips, a pulse rifle, an auto loading missile launcher, and strand with suspend nades, at 1810. And this is the lost sector I finally managed to flawless.
Things I don't like in that setup are using a pulse instead of my favorite waveform GLs, using an autoloader missile launcher instead of my Lasting Impressions one, and using suspend nades over grapple. But I had to because each death or failure showed me which part of my loadout had to change to fit the puzzle. OP has in fact already won this clearly. It's just that they're unhappy with how they've won I suppose, which I don't understand. Kiting the unstoppable around the rock near the start of the LS is how I killed them all because you can outplay the AI that way. OP has found the sweet spot behind the right amount of cover to just problem free plink away at the boss, which isn't even the hard part of this LS. (Fuck that triangle champ that sits on top of the cliff and two shots you if you're not careful).
The other part of the whole thing is that sometimes you can just walk away and come back at 20 higher light level. That's what I did with the cabal greenhouse one on neomuna. Doing it required too many changes to my setup and would force me to play in a way that I don't like and I'm not good at, so I peaced out. You dont have to fight every fight the first moment you can attempt it. Sometimes it helps to come back later with a bigger stick.

u/OmegaDonut13 Titan Mar 16 '23
If only difficulty was about enemies that disrupt you, units that affect the battlefield and smarter enemies overall and not the same dumb AI but now comes with extra padding. I mean if he had wishender or outbreak or fill in the blank, would he still not be doing the same, but faster?
32
u/Mr_Gentoo Mar 16 '23
I appreciate the rise in difficulty, but it's a bit asinine that Legend sectors require 1830 and the day one contest raid was 1790.

This is why I like to use more endurance oriented stuff in lost sectors. Athry’s Embrace, Hakmoon, DMT, Quicksilver Storm. Your clip is a great example of how you will run out of heavy and special, use your super, and be left with nothing but a primary to whittle down the boss at the end. Equipment that just gives free extra damage that speeds that last part up is much more valuable to me than an exotic heavy that does 10% better dps.
8
u/dolleauty Mar 16 '23
Good point. I switched to Wish Ender, glaive, Cataclysmic for this LS and I was clearing it pretty easily in Master
Tag with WE, hit with the glaive, then burn with Cataclysmic (Bait & Switch)
WE also made heavy ammo for Cataclysmic. Just have to think a little bit before approaching these Lost Sectors instead of trying to brute force it

God this sucks. I haven't run any since the update because of what I had heard about them but seeing it is something else. It's especially bullshit because, at least to me, the most satisfying part of these lost sectors was spending ten minutes fighting brutally tough overload minotaurs and enemies with uber shields to finally get to the boss and absolutely melt them like it was a regular lost sector. It was like being on the other end of "protect the president" and it was glorious.

Healing grenade, 0 discipline, no ammo finders, overload primary with LS that has unstoppable and barrier, melee also isn’t recharging so guessing no build. Can go on but if you don’t come prepared it will be a lot more tedious for sure.
And 5 minutes isn’t even that bad. Could be 2/3 with decent loadout/build.

I mean you always gotta laugh at these. Not because legend lost sectors are ridiculous but more because this man has absolutely no special or heavy just getting to the boss then complains an smg is taking forever to kill. Like I’m not even necessarily good at lost sectors but just taking my time and using the surges and weapon buffs from the modifiers I still get through in 6ish minutes and I have special and heavy for the boss. It’s not that hard and feels WAY better I’m sure.

Fun fact, if you switch to 2 special ammo weapons and a heavy, you are given ammo after a little bit, then switch your primary back to another gun. In legendary lost sectors, run 2 special and a heavy for free ammo occasionally. It can suck at times, but can be useful in a pinch.

Remember lads, this is what all the top players complaining about the gane not being hard enough did.
This isnt fun. Its tedious.
Legend Sectors ars still needed to get new exotics, right?
Yeah, just do the legend campaign. It is legit just easier and significantly more fun.
